Promitto Group AS, in collaboration with Bravida Sweden, is proud to announce its participation in the E4 Förbifart Stockholm project by supplying 55,000 meters of LED lighting.
The Swedish Transport Administration is building a new section of the E4 west of Stockholm, known as Bypass Stockholm. This new 21 kilometer stretch includes extensive tunnel sections that pass through the urban environment and connect Stockholm from north to south.
In order to safeguard important environmental and cultural values, approximately 18 of the road's 21 kilometers are tunnelled, which makes E4 Förbifart Stockholm to one of the world's longest motorway tunnels. With the technical systems implemented in E4 Förbifart Stockholm, the amount of technical equipment in Stockholm's road system will be doubled.
The E4 Bypass Stockholm consists of 21 kilometers of tunnels, including two parallel service tunnels, ramps and cross tunnels.
The project has a total budget of SEK 41.7 billion (2021 price level), according to the National Plan for the transport infrastructure for the period 2022-2033, with planned completion by 2030.
55,000 meters of LED strips
In collaboration with Bravida Sweden, Promitto Group AS delivers 55,000 meters LED-lighting to the service tunnels. Bravida has been commissioned to carry out all installations related to the subcontracts FSE 902 Electricity supply, lighting, plumbing and FSE 905 VA and permanent fire extinguishing - including planning, construction, production, delivery, installation, testing, maintenance and roll-out.
The tunnel facility is divided into 33 operating areas that require different forms of lighting, with a total extent of approximately 55,000 meters of tunnel pipe. Within these areas there is a parallel conduit culvert and an extensive system of escape routes where lighting will be installed. The chosen solution is a lighting system tailored to the Swedish Transport Administration's needs.
Promitto supplies 55,000 meters of lighting, consisting of both LED strips and floodlights. Power cabinets will be placed approximately every 150 meters in the tunnels. Promitto supplies a complete solution with LED strips connected together in 3×50 meter segments, in addition to HighLite floodlights for the cabinet areas. Everything is powered by one power supply. This results in considerably simpler installation work and major cost savings.

The chosen lighting solution is tailor-made by Promitto for this project in collaboration with Bravida Sweden and the Swedish Transport Administration.
